things work, how
to set up or
configure software
and you'll find
my opinions and
reviews.

PBNett.org is about to disappear.

Flips' Hideout, this page, will be available at Luminated.org. How long I'll keep it there, I don't know.
Signing out ... Live long and prosper ... :)

Latest news:

22nd of August 2009:
I have updated some links on this main page, fixed some bugs, counter etc. I have also added some comments on various sub pages, but decided I will not try to update all the sub pages. Updating the Computer Books page a little was just about as far as I will go now ...
19th of August 2009:
Not much stuff has happened here since April 2001, but today I actually updated the Computer Books page a little.
28th of April 2001:
New and better pages! :-)  I have now reorganized my pages. The contents are changed and reorganized. And I've added much new material. I'm not yet finished with my web browser page, my book page and some new stuff is coming up ...

Here you will find:

UNIX/Linux Distributions
Here you will find my views on the different UNIX/Linux distribution (Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and lots of Linux distributions). If you wonder what's Linux distribution or UNIX variant to choose, take a look here.
Web Browsers
Here you will find my reviews of and comments on different browsers for UNIX/Linux -- both text-only browsers and browsers for X.
Computer Books
On this page you'll find reviews of some computer books. I only review or comment books I find useful, I don't bother to write anything about books that I haven't read or wouldn't recommend.
Mail Servers
Right now you will only find an intro to configuring and debugging sendmail installations. I will be adding some material on configuring exim soon, and after that some stuff about IMAP/POP3-servers. Drop by later ...
Office Software
Here you will find some general comments on and reviews of Office Suites, Word Processors, Spreadsheets and stuff like that.

News about Linux

Are you looking for news about Linux? Here you have a couple of different places you can try out:

If you don't find what you need, you might want to search from Google, or you might find your way from Linux International, Linux HeadQuarters or a national Linux site for you country. F.ex. Linux Noreg in Norway.

The purpose of this site

Why do I bother making this page? I don't know. It started out at me sharing some comments, tips and tweaks, opinions and reviews, and it seems quite some people found that useful. The first couple of years I had somewhere around 3000 visitors. (But this was back in the beginning of this Millenium, and since the middle of 2001, not much has happened here. Until 2009. I have done some updating, but I have no intention of updating a lot. I am working on other projects and blogging different kind of subjects.

Feel free to ask me if you have questions regarding the contents of this site or if you feel I can somehow provide you an answer you need. The only page I've really updated lately, is the Computer Books page.
